utility installation on Yonge at Northern Heights

Utility crews continue with duct bank [a structure which gathers together and encases utility cables] installation along Yonge Street in Richmond Hill. Starting Thursday, crews will install a duct bank on the east side of Yonge, just north of Northern Heights Boulevard.

work dates*: Thursday, November 2 – Thursday, November 16
work hours: 7am-7pm, closure will remain 24/7

what you need to know:

To accommodate this work, northbound Yonge will be reduced to one thru lane just north and south of the Yonge and Northern Heights intersection.
Some areas of the Yonge sidewalk on the east side will be temporarily closed. Directional signage will be onsite to guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk.
Some bus stop relocations may be required for this work. Where bus stops are affected, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest bus stop.
Traffic control staff and paid duty police officers will be onsite, as required.
Please expect delays and give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
Due to the nature of this work, at times, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
