utility installation on Roosevelt at Yonge

Starting Monday, crews will be installing a duct bank [a structure which gathers together and encases telecommunications cables] across Roosevelt Drive.

work dates*: Monday, July 17 and Tuesday, July 18
work hours: 7am-7pm

what you need to know:

  • On Monday, crews will be working on the southwest corner of Yonge and Roosevelt.
    • The left- and right-turn lane onto Roosevelt from Yonge will be closed.
    • Traffic will be able to access Yonge from Roosevelt, but will be unable to access Roosevelt from Yonge.
    • Crews will then backfill and plate the work area.
    • Please follow posted detour signs that will guide motorists around the work zone.
  • On Tuesday, crews will be working on the northwest corner of Yonge and Roosevelt.
    • Traffic will have access to Roosevelt from Yonge; however traffic on Roosevelt will not be able to access Yonge.
    • Crews will backfill and pave the entire work area.
    • Please follow posted detour signs that will guide motorists around the work zone.
  • The sidewalk on the west side of Yonge, will be closed for the duration of work; however the sidewalk on the east side will remain open. Directional signage will be onsite to guide pedestrians.
  • Traffic control staff will be onsite.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.

*Please note: As with all construction projects, some work may be re-scheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advanced notice when possible.
