storm sewers and temporary street light installation on Centre Street

On Thursday and Friday of this week, storm sewer installations will be continuing, crossing the Promenade Terminal on Centre Street, with the entrance being partially closed each day. In addition, crews will be installing temporary street lights on Centre St. between New Westminster Drive and Bathurst Street, requiring a curb lane closure.Please see below for more details.

work dates*: Thursday, August 24 to Friday, August 25
work hours*: 7am–5pm

  • As storm sewer installations continue on the south side of Centre, crews will be crossing the entrance to the Promenade Terminal, which will require a partial closure on Thursday and Friday.
  • On Friday, there will be a pedestrian sidewalk detour around the work area, east of the Terminal entrance. Directional signs will guide pedestrians around the work area.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

  • Crews will excavate pits, install temporary poles and street lighting and string overhead cables on Centre between New Westminster and Bathurst.
  • Poles will be installed on both the north and south sides of Centre – however, with just short stub poles on the north.
  • Temporary curb lane closures around work areas will be required.
  • Sidewalks may be temporarily closed around work zones. Directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk.
  • Once this work is completed, existing poles will be removed and holes backfilled.

  • Due to the nature of this work, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
