median removals

work dates*: Monday, April 17 to Friday, July 28
work hours*: 9:30am-3:30pm on Bathurst, 7am-7pm on connector roads and Highway 7

  • Crews will be removing median strips and traffic islands in these locations: Bathurst St. north and south of the Highway 7 connector road, along the Bathurst-Highway 7 connector road, on Highway 7 from the connector road to Yonge St., and along the Yonge St. connector road.
  • In order to accommodate this work, there will be lane closures around the work areas.
  • Median strips will be removed one area at a time, then each area will be graded and paved in multiple layers.
  • There will be construction-related noise and vibration from equipment and trucks during this activity.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

work on Centre St.

work dates*: Monday, April 17 to Monday, May 2
work hours*: 7am-5pm

  • Starting Monday, there will be lane closures on Concord Rd. just north of Centre. Traffic will be shifted to the west side of the road as crews continue water main work. Southbound vehicles will use the right turn lane for all movements [right, through, left] at this intersection.
  • Several months ago, monitoring wells were placed on Centre St. to track environmental conditions. To avoid conflicts with upcoming utility work, they are now being removed. This work is scheduled for Tuesday.
  • This work requires short-term lane closures around some of the work areas.
  • Traffic control staff and paid-duty police officers will be on site to direct traffic, as required.
  • Sidewalks and bus stops will remain open wherever possible. If a sidewalk or bus stop is temporarily closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk or bus stop.
  • Due to the nature of this work, there will be construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We are committed to providing advance notice whenever possible.
