milestone on Highway 7 West >> concrete deck pour for the bridge expansion
A milestone operation starts this Friday on the Highway 7 bridge over Highway 400: the first stage of the concrete deck is being poured for the 4.5-to-8.5-metre bridge expansion. Please see below for further details.
what you need to know:
work dates*: Friday, October 26
work hours*: 11am – 7pm
- There will be three stages of concrete pour, with Friday's work being the first stage.
- Stage 1 [Friday] – the east and west ends of the deck expansion which will require approximately 6 to 8 hours
- Stage 2 [to be scheduled soon] – the "mid-span" between the two ends [6-8 hours of pour]
- Stage 3 [to be scheduled soon] – the "closure strip", which is approximately 0.7m-1.2m in width across the entire length of bridge, connecting the newly poured deck extension to the existing bridge deck [3-4 hours of pour]
- Sidewalks and bus stops will remain open wherever possible. If a sidewalk or bus stop is temporarily closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk or bus stop.
- Cross at the designated crosswalk. It can be tempting to cross in the middle of the road, but this can be very dangerous. Instead, cross at a designated crosswalk. Look both ways and be aware of your surroundings.
- Due to the nature of this work, there will be construction-related noise equipment and trucks.
- Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We are committed to providing advance notice whenever possible. Check twitter.com/vivanext for last-minute updates.
