Keith Bridge repairs continue on Davis Drive
Over the past six weeks, work has been progressing well as crews complete the repairs to parapet walls [the raised walls along the sidewalks] of the Keith Bridge. Please see below for more details.
work dates*: Work started the week of Monday, July 8, continuing for approximately five months
work hours*: 7am - 7pm [some weekend work may be required]
what you need to know:
- As crews continue work on the north side of the Keith Bridge, the westbound curb lane along Davis on the Keith Bridge will be closed 24-hours a day.
- To maintain two lanes of westbound traffic for the duration of work on the north side of the bridge, the left-turn lane into Newmarket Chamber of Commerce [470 Davis] and Seniors' Meeting Place [474 Davis] will be used as a thru-lane only. Left turns will not be permitted. To access the Chamber of Commerce or Seniors' Centre, motorists will continue westbound to Main Street and make a U-turn and proceed eastbound to access the driveway.
- The sidewalk on the north side of the bridge will be closed for the duration of this work. Directional signs will guide pedestrians around the closure.
- Crews have started work on the south side of the Keith Bridge and will work in the area for approximately two months.
- The eastbound curb lane on Davis between Superior Street and the east end of Keith Bridge will be temporarily closed at times, during off-peak hours.
- The sidewalk on the south side of the bridge will remain open; however, will be narrowed during this stage of work.
