Keith Bridge repairs on Davis Drive

July 05, 2019

Over the next five months, crews will be working on the parapet walls [the raised walls along the sidewalks] of the Keith Bridge. This work will involve the removal and repair of the parapet walls along the north and south sides of the bridge. This work will be completed under the warranty period established by the original constructor of the Davis Drive rapidway, to ensure quality in future years. When completed, the bridge will include the same architectural features as you see today, including replica period light fixtures and poles and heritage-style concrete walls. Please see below for more details.

work dates*: Beginning the week of Monday, July 8, for approximately five months
work hours*: 7am - 7pm [some weekend work may be required]

stage 1 - north side:

  • Crews will start on the north side of Keith Bridge and work in the area for approximately two months.
  • The westbound curb lane along Davis on the Keith Bridge will be closed 24-hours a day, for the duration of this work.
  • In order to maintain two lanes of westbound traffic for the duration of work on the north side of the bridge, the left-turn lane into Newmarket Chamber of Commerce [470 Davis] and Seniors' Meeting Place [474 Davis] will be used as a thru-lane only. Left turns will not be possible. Motorists looking to access the Chamber of Commerce or Seniors' Meeting Place will continue to travel westbound to Main Street and make a U-turn and proceed eastbound to access the driveway.
  • The sidewalk on the north side of the bridge will be closed for the duration of this work. Directional signs will guide pedestrians through the Tom Taylor Trail detour, as pictured below.
