Yonge Street, Newmarket

The stretch of Yonge Street from Mulock Drive to Davis Drive, with shopping, businesses and the Regional administration headquarters, is a busy and often congested stretch of road. The new Yonge Street rapidway will provide a convenient way for riders to travel and avoid the congestion, linking to the Davis Drive rapidway for access to the hospital, Newmarket’s Heritage area and an improved Davis Drive.

Several public meetings were held to showcase the project and the planned improvements. In February 2010, a public open house was held to share details with the community and to highlight that some preliminary work was about to get underway. We're currently completing the preliminary design for the rapidway on Yonge Street between Davis Drive and Mulock Drive, with construction scheduled to begin in 2014 and a projected completion date of 2017. Rapidways on Yonge Street north to Green Lane and south of Mulock Drive are dependent on funding commitments.
