Subways

Here in the Greater Toronto Area, we call it the subway. In other parts of the world, it’s known as the metro, tube, underground, T-bane or MRT.

Currently the TTC subway lines only run within the boundaries of Toronto, and people in the rest of the Greater Toronto Area have had to find their own way to connect to the subway. But with vivaNext, there are plans to extend both the Spadina line and the Yonge line right into York Region, making it easier than ever before to make seamless connections for travel around the Greater Toronto Area.

Like the rapidways and light rail transit lines, the subway extensions will encourage mixed-use, transit-oriented development along their routes as people come to live, work, shop and play in close proximity to great transit service.
