Subways

Whoosh

Here's a piece of trivia.

Did you know that every day, almost as many people travel north to York Region from Toronto as vice versa — including many of the 50,000 students and staff who study and work at York University?

The vivaNext plan includes two subway extensions that will provide north and southbound commuters with faster, more direct routes between Toronto and York Region. These include the Spadina subway extension from Downsview Station to the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station, and the Yonge subway extension from Finch Station to the Richmond Hill Centre Terminal.

This is a win-win-win for the community, for business and for the environment.

Diane Murphy, Manager, Elite Window Fashions

More than just subway stations, the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station and the Richmond Hill Centre Terminal will serve as convenient transit hubs where commuters can make connections with Viva, GO Transit commuter rail and express buses, YRT local bus services, and other transit systems. These hubs will significantly reduce passenger wait times and improve transit travel times to, from and within York Region.

As an added bonus, the subway extensions will also help to revitalize York Region by bringing new life to the streets at station areas as people come to live, work, shop and play in close proximity to great transit service.
