Warden Station undergoing adjustments

Contractors will begin making adjustments to the prototype vivastation along the rapidway located at Warden Avenue and Enterprise Boulevard in Markham.

How will this affect Viva rapid transit services?

Starting August 19, the Viva rapid transit service will pick up passengers at the temporary vivastations located on the north and south sides of Enterprise Blvd.

When will Warden Station reopen for Viva service?

Warden Station will reopen for Viva service in approximately 2 weeks – as soon as contractors have completed the work.

What changes are being made at Warden Station?

As the prototype rapidway vivastation, various adjustments are being made including some surface materials.

Will ticket machines and PRESTO be available at the temporary vivastations?

  • The ticket machines at the vivastations along Enterprise Blvd. are available for use.
  • For PRESTO transactions, customers may continue to use the equipment in its current location at Warden Station.

Will this work affect traffic or sidewalks in the area?

  • No lane closures or sidewalk detours are expected on Warden Ave. or Enterprise Blvd. as part of this work.
  • Warden Station will be a construction zone, with a fence around the work area for the safety of pedestrians.
  • Viva vehicles will travel in mixed traffic on Warden Ave. and Enterprise Blvd. instead of along the rapidway.
  • The dedicated transit signal will be turned off during this time.

Please Note: As with all construction projects, work may need to be rescheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advance notice whenever possible.

Highway 7 East / Markham and Richmond Hill

The second phase of York Region’s rapid transit future [rapidways] is now a reality, and we couldn’t be prouder!

With our first complete Bus Rapid Transit segment now open for service along Highway 7 East [from Bayview Avenue to Warden Avenue], our region is moving ahead as planned with our commitment to making it easier for everyone to get around.

You know it looks great, but even better, taking transit across York Region is now easier, faster and more reliable. It’s no wonder ridership is already up 10% and customers’ average commute time is 35% shorter than their previous commute.

And this is just the beginning! Imagine a future where it’s easy to get all around York Region on transit, with convenient, reliable Viva rapid transit service – moving you quickly and comfortably while avoiding traffic congestion. That future is already on the way, with vivaNext projects currently under construction along Highway 7 West, north along Yonge Street and across Davis Drive in Newmarket.

The transit network across the GTHA is getting better and stronger, too. Connections to the TTC’s Spadina Subway at the VMC will be ready for customers in 2017. Links to the GO Transit system are also being expanded through Regional Express Rail projects, and convenient commuter parking lots are in the works.
