Davis Drive construction schedule – Spring 2011

As part of the Davis Drive rapidway project, six retaining walls will be built along the south side of Davis Drive, between Yonge Street and Main Street, where properties slope up or down from the roadway. In a few cases the retaining walls already exist and they will just be shifted farther back to accommodate the road widening.

Dates are subject to change. However, as your Community Liaison, I am always here to answer questions, provide additional information, and schedule updates as construction proceeds at each location.

What will the walls be constructed from?

The walls will be built using either decorative concrete or “sienna stone” blocks for an attractive look. Walls measuring two feet or more in height will be topped with attractive hand railings.

Will the sidewalks in the work areas be impacted?

At times during the construction, the sidewalk will be detoured. When needed, detour signs will direct pedestrians to the sidewalk on the north side of Davis Drive.

Will there be traffic impacts on Davis Drive?

From time to time, there may be temporary lane closures to facilitate the work. Any lane closures will follow permit guidelines and roadways will be clearly signed.

Where can I find more information?

The best way to learn more about the Davis Drive rapidway project is to drop in to our Open House on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Bethel Christian Reform Church, 333 Davis Drive. If you can’t come to the Open House, you can find our most recent project newsletter and detailed information on, or contact me.
