Environmental assessments on Highway 7 West

Where and when is the work being done?

  • Dates: Sunday, January 15 to Tuesday, January 17, 2012.
  • Hours of work: 9am to 3pm.
  • Work location: various locations along Highway 7 West, between Highway 400 and Creditstone Road.

What is being done?

Crews will take measurements and photographs, and visually inspect the roadway and surrounding area.

What impact will this have?

Crew members may be noticeable in the area wearing safety vests and carrying clipboards. Aside from this, this work will not affect residents, businesses, drivers and pedestrians.

Why does this work need to be done?

Environmental assessments need to be completed to prepare for the vivaNext rapidway project. Rapidway construction on Highway 7 West will happen in two phases, starting this year and scheduled to be complete by 2020.

summer paving is happening on Highway 7 West!

As construction continues along Highway 7 West, we’re paving between Commerce Street and Bowes Road. The work is scheduled to continue until mid-late September, depending on weather conditions. Work will be completed one section at a time [see map below] and will require some lane closures on weeknights and partial intersection closures on weekends. Police officers and traffic control persons will be on-site to direct traffic and assist pedestrians.

Edgeley Blvd/Interchange Way intersection south side at Hwy 7

*Tentatively scheduled: Friday, July 10, 8pm, to Monday, July 13, 6am:

  • The south side of the intersection will be closed, along with a short distance of Interchange south of Highway 7.
  • Highway 7 traffic will maintain two lanes open in each direction.
  • Detour signs will be in place, and paid duty police officers will be on site to help direct traffic.
  • If sidewalks or bus stops are affected, directional signs will be on site to guide pedestrians.

Bowes Rd./Baldwin  Ave. intersection north side at Hwy 7

*Tentatively scheduled: Friday, July 17, 7pm, to Monday, July 20, 6am:

  • The north side of the intersection will be closed, along with a short distance of Bowes Rd. north of Highway 7.
  • Highway 7 traffic will maintain two lanes open in each direction.
  • Detour signs will be in place, and paid duty police officers will be on site to help direct traffic.
  • If sidewalks or bus stops are affected, directional signs will be on site to guide pedestrians.

*Tentatively scheduled: Friday, August 14, 7pm, to Monday, August 17, 6am:

  • The north side of the intersection will be closed, along with a short distance of Jane St. north of Highway 7.
  • Highway 7 traffic will maintain two lanes open in each direction.
  • Detour signs will be in place, and paid duty police officers will be on site to help direct traffic.
  • If sidewalks or bus stops are affected, directional signs will be on site to guide pedestrians.

Edgeley Blvd/Interchange Way intersection north side at Hwy 7

*Tentatively scheduled: Friday, August 14, 7pm, to Monday, August 17, 6am:

  • The north side of the intersection will be closed, along with a short distance of Edgeley north of Highway 7.
  • Highway 7 traffic will maintain two lanes open in each direction.
  • Detour signs will be in place, and paid duty police officers will be on site to help direct traffic.
  • If sidewalks or bus stops are affected, directional signs will be on site to guide pedestrians.

Bowes Rd./Baldwin Ave. intersection south side at Hwy 7

*Tentatively scheduled: Friday, August 28, 7pm, to Monday, August 31, 6am:

  • The south side of the intersection will be closed, along with a short distance of Baldwin Ave. south of Highway 7.
  • Highway 7 traffic will maintain two lanes open in each direction.
  • Detour signs will be in place, and paid duty police officers will be on site to help direct traffic.
  • If sidewalks or bus stops are affected, directional signs will be on site to guide pedestrians.

Creditstone Rd. intersection, south side, at Highway 7

*Friday, September 18 at 7pm to Monday, September 21 at 6am:

  • The south side of the intersection will be closed, along with a short distance of Creditstone south of Highway 7.
  • Highway 7 traffic will shift to the north side of the intersection, with one lane open in each direction.
  • Detour signs will be in place, and paid duty police officers will be on site to help direct traffic.

Highway 7 north side, east of Keele

*Scheduled: Tuesday, June 23, 7pm, to Wednesday, June 24, 7am:

  • A portion of the north side of Highway 7 just east of the Keele intersection is being paved in preparation for platform work at the upcoming vivastations.
  • Access will be maintained to all properties in work areas; however, driveways may be temporarily disrupted – please watch for directional signs.
  • As required, traffic flag people and paid duty police offices will be available to direct traffic and pedestrians.
