It is with great sadness that York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRTC) has learned that Dave Barrow, former City of Richmond Hill Mayor and YRRTC Board Director, has passed away.

During his more than 35 years of public service, Dave Barrow showed dedication to building communities in Richmond Hill and across York Region. As Mayor of Richmond Hill for 15 years, and Regional Councillor before that, he made a great impact on many Regional programs, including transportation and rapid transit.
Dave Barrow was a member of the Board of Directors of York Region Rapid Transit Corporation since its first meeting in September 2009. He also served on the rapid transit steering committee that moved the Region’s plans for rapid transit forward. He supported the bus rapid transit program and was a strong advocate for building subways in York Region, including the Yonge North Subway Extension and the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension.
His commitment to building strong, vibrant communities helped shape York Region, and his legacy will live on for future generations. YRRTC extends our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.
