NEWMARKET, ON, November 19, 2014 – With reconstruction of the Keith Bridge nearing completion, the Tom Taylor Trail has re-opened and has been reinstated back to its original location under the bridge.

Highlights:

  • The Keith Bridge in the Town of Newmarket is being reconstructed as part of the York Viva Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project on Davis Drive
  • While the bridge has been under construction, a localized detour of the Tom Taylor Trail has been in effect where it normally passes under the Keith Bridge
  • Pedestrians and cyclists will now enjoy added improvements to the section of the trail that passes under Keith Bridge. It has been retrofitted with new lighting and wider sidewalks
  • To connect to the north side of the trail, users have the option to bypass Davis Drive by going under the bridge or following the path up to Davis Drive
  • The Tom Taylor Trail is Newmarket’s portion of the Nokiidaa Trail system that extends through the Towns of Aurora, Newmarket and East Gwillimbury
  • The Trail follows the Holland River and Fairy Lake downstream to link up with the Rogers Reservoir Trail in East Gwillimbury
