Surveying continues on Highway 7 West

What type of work is being done?

Beginning August 24, for approximately a month, land surveyors will be taking measurements along the north side of Highway 7 West between Ansley Grove Road and Pine Valley Drive.

Why is it being done?

To more accurately document existing properties, road conditions and confirm property/project boundaries in preparation for building the vivaNext rapidway.

What impact will this have?

  • There should be little or no impact as surveyors use their portable measuring devices and make every effort to ensure area residents and businesses are not inconvenienced.
  • Some properties may need to be accessed by surveyors, and if your property is fenced and needs to be accessed, you will be personally contacted by our staff or the surveying company, Alex Marton Ltd.

Where and when will the rapidways be built?

Rapidway construction on Highway 7 West will happen in two phases over several years:

Lucky number seven.

It isn’t just the Spadina Subway line that’s coming to Vaughan. It’s everyone. And everything. The Vaughan Metropolitan Centre is on its way and that means offices, residences, restaurants, entertainment and busloads of culture. Yes, busloads.

York Region’s easiest, most convenient way to get there? Viva.

Beginning from the Yonge subway linkup and heading westward, this dedicated rapidway will carry riders to their preferred port of call, whether it’s the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, Thornhill or Pine Valley Drive further west or any point between.

Are we there yet? Overall, it’s looking great out west. We started out of the gates in 2013 to begin work in the Highway 7 right-of-way, and December 2016 is when the rapidway will open for phase one, between Edgeley Boulevard and Bowes Road. Phase two is coming up close behind, with the main work starting in 2016 in the right-of-way from Edgeley to Helen and Bowes to Yonge Street, opening in December 2019. Further construction beyond 2019 could also be in the future — plans depend on available funding commitments.
