Road paving at Warden & Enterprise

What type of work is being done?

Distinctive red asphalt will be paved on the rapidways (dedicated bus lanes).

Where exactly is this going on?

On the rapidways parallel to Warden Avenue on the west side and Enterprise Drive on the north side.

When will it start?

Saturday, November 6, 2010. (weather permitting)

How long will the work take?

One day – from 7 am to 5 pm

What impact will there be?

  • Northbound and southbound lane closures will take place throughout the day.
  • Southbound traffic on Warden Avenue will be shifted to share the northbound lanes from about Clegg Road to just south of Enterprise Drive in order to pave the southbound lanes of Warden Avenue.
  • Once the southbound side is complete, all traffic will be shifted to the west side of Warden Avenue to pave the northbound lanes of Warden Avenue.
  • The private roadway and ramp access to IBM will be blocked from 7 am to 5 pm. Access to IBM will be via Clegg Road for most of the day.
  • Police officers will be on site throughout the day to safely direct traffic as required.

Highway 7 East \ Markham and Richmond Hill

Where east meets west.

Markham and Richmond Hill are becoming key destinations within York Region. The Highway 7 East rapidways that travel through both of these municipalities will connect to the Richmond Hill Centre, a new mixed-use urban centre featuring businesses, homes, shops, restaurants, a 10-acre park, a theatre – and you. This is where the planned Yonge North Subway extension will begin (or end). Pick your ride – any ride from the Richmond Hill Centre you’ll find connections to viva, GO, YRT and TTC.

Viva rapid transit service launched on Sunday, August 18 in the centre median, or rapidway, along Highway 7 in Richmond Hill and Markham from Bayview Avenue to Highway 404.  The next phase of rapidway, which totals 3.9 kilometres, along Highway 7 from Highway 404 to Warden Avenue, will open in 2014.  Future plans to extend east to Reesor Road are dependent on additional funding commitments.
