Highway 7 East \ Markham and Richmond Hill

Where east meets west.

Markham and Richmond Hill are becoming key destinations within York Region. The Highway 7 East rapidways that travel through both of these municipalities will connect to the Richmond Hill Centre, a new mixed-use urban centre featuring businesses, homes, shops, restaurants, a 10-acre park, a theatre – and you. This is where the planned Yonge North Subway extension will begin (or end). Pick your ride – any ride from the Richmond Hill Centre you’ll find connections to viva, GO, YRT and TTC.

Viva rapid transit service launched on Sunday, August 18 in the centre median, or rapidway, along Highway 7 in Richmond Hill and Markham from Bayview Avenue to Highway 404.  The next phase of rapidway, which totals 3.9 kilometres, along Highway 7 from Highway 404 to Warden Avenue, will open in December, 2014.  Future plans to extend east to Reesor Road are dependent on additional funding commitments.
