Spadina subway extension breaks ground
Posted Mar 25, 2010, 8:06 pmIn December 2009, a groundbreaking event was held for the 8.6-kilometre Spadina subway extension, which will extend from the Downsview Station to the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station at Highway 7. The event commemorated a link that will connect the Spadina subway extension to the existing Wilson Subway Yard and expanded yard storage facilities.
Yonge subway update
Posted Mar 25, 2010, 8:06 pmFollowing the Ministry of the Environment’s unconditional approval of the Environmental Project Report for the Yonge subway extension, The Toronto Transit Commission, in partnership with The Regional Municipality of York, the City of Toronto and York Region Rapid Transit Corporation, have awarded a $3.7 million conceptual design contract to the joint venture of McCormick Rankin Corporation and Hatch Mott MacDonald.
Davis Drive rapidway underway

Having secured access to these properties, our project team has been out doing various pre-construction activities.
Breaking ground for rapidways

Metrolinx is committed to working with York Region to break ground on the rapidways this year. “Progress is going very well indeed,” said Metrolinx President and CEO Robert Prichard at the July public board meeting.
Yonge subway: Did you know?

The Yonge subway is Canada’s first subway line. When it officially opened on March 30, 1954, it extended from Union Station to Eglinton Station. Over 600 guests were invited to ride on its inaugural run, which departed Eglinton Station at 11:56 a.m. and arrived at Union Station precisely fourteen minutes later at 12:10 p.m..
