update: overnight storm sewer installation at Yonge and Eagle

August 21, 2017

Hello,

Crews are now scheduled to install a storm sewer across Eagle Street West starting on Wednesday, August 23. Crews will start on the northwest corner of the Yonge Street and Eagle intersection and work their way south.

work dates*: Wednesday, August 23, for approximately two nights
work hours: 7pm-7am, overnight

  • Crews will be digging a trench across Eagle to install a new storm sewer line.
  • Work will start on the northwest corner of Eagle, and move south.
  • Traffic on Eagle will be reduced to one eastbound and one westbound lane. The two lanes will be shifted across Eagle as work progresses north to south.
  • Crews will backfill and re-open the roadway each morning.
  • Traffic control staff and paid duty police officers will be onsite to direct traffic for the duration of this work.
  • The viva bus stop on the northwest corner of Yonge and Eagle will be relocated to the southwest corner of the intersection. Signage and personnel will be onsite to guide pedestrians.
  • Where sidewalks are affected, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk.
  • Due to the nature of this work, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.

*Please note: As with all construction projects, some work may be re-scheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advanced notice when possible. Watch twitter.com/vivanext for last-minute updates.
