overnight fire hydrant installations on Yonge in Newmarket

August 15, 2017

Hello,

In preparation for upcoming paving and boulevard work on the west side of Yonge Street, crews will be installing three new fire hydrants on Yonge between Sawmill Valley Drive/Savage Road and Clearmeadow Boulevard/William Roe Boulevard.

work dates*: Wednesday August 16 – Tuesday, August 22
work hours: 7pm-7am, overnight

This week:

  • On Wednesday, August 16 and Thursday, August 17, crews will install three fire hydrants on the west side of Yonge, just north and south of the Mulock intersection.
  • Crews will start with the fire hydrants south of Mulock, and work their way north.
  • Yonge will be reduced to one southbound and one northbound lane for the duration of this work.

Next week:

  • On Monday, August 21 and Tuesday, August 22, crews will then tie in the three hydrants to existing water mains on the east side of Yonge.
  • Yonge will be reduced to one southbound and one northbound lane for the duration of this work.

Other details:

  • Where sidewalks are affected, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk.
  • Traffic control staff will be onsite to direct traffic for the duration of this work.
  • Due to the nature of this work, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

*Please note: As with all construction projects, some work may be re-scheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advanced notice when possible. Watch twitter.com/vivanext for last-minute updates.
