pole installation details on Yonge

  • On Monday, May 15 and Tuesday, May 16, crews will be installing seven hydro poles on the west side of Yonge, just south of Gladman.

what you need to know:

  • For everyone’s safety, as each pole is hoisted high in the air and placed on its foundation, Yonge will be closed in both directions for up to 15 minutes.
  • For approximately three weeks, traffic will be periodically reduced to one southbound lane around the work area during off-peak hours, as required.
  • Traffic control staff or paid duty police officers will be on site to direct traffic.
  • Where sidewalks and bus stops are affected directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk and bus stop.
  • For your own safety, please follow detour signs and cross at signalized intersections.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

*Please note: As with all construction projects, some work may be re-scheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advanced notice when possible.
