temporary traffic signal installation continues on Yonge

November 25, 2016

Crews are continuing to install temporary traffic signals at intersections along Yonge Street. On Monday, crews will begin traffic pole and signal installations at the Clearmeadow/William Roe Boulevard and Eagle Street intersections.

work dates*: Monday, November 28, until the end of January
work hours*: 7:00am–7:00pm

what you need to know:

  • Crews will begin at Clearmeadow/William Roe and then move to the Eagle intersection.
  • Each intersection will take approximately four weeks to complete.
  • During stage 1, there will be temporary curb lane closures around the work areas as crews install the temporary traffic poles and signals.
  • During stage 2, there will be short duration left-turn lane closures while crews suspend and secure the temporary traffic signals.
  • Traffic control personnel and paid duty police officers will be on site as required.
  • Bus stops and sidewalks will remain open. If a bus stop or sidewalk is closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop or sidewalk.
  • At times, work at intersections will occur simultaneously.
  • There will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
  • At a later date, the traffic lights will be out of service for a short time as crews switch over to the temporary signals. Notice of this temporary outage will be provided in advance.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advance notice whenever possible.

We understand that construction can be disruptive and we thank you for your patience. If you have questions about the Yonge Street rapidway project please contact:
