traffic signal activation at Yonge Street and Gladman Avenue in Newmarket

November 4, 2016

The installation of temporary traffic poles and signals between Sawmill Valley Drive and Davis Drive on Yonge Street has made great progress and crews are now ready for the next step. As we previously communicated to you, the next phase is to switch over the traffic lights to the temporary signals. On Monday, crews will be activating the temporary traffic signal on the west side of the Yonge Street and Gladman Avenue intersection. Temporary disruptions to the traffic lights will be required. Please see below for further details.

work date*: Monday, November 7
work hours*: 7am–7pm

  • During off-peak hours, the traffic lights will be out of service in all directions at the intersection of Yonge and Gladman. Expect to see the lights out or flashing.
  • Paid duty police officers will be on site to direct traffic until the traffic signals are restored.
  • Vehicle access to Yonge and Gladman will be maintained at all times.
  • The sidewalks around the work areas may be temporarily closed at times. Personnel will be on site to guide pedestrians around the work zone as necessary.
  • Once activated, crews will return at a later date to remove the old traffic poles.

* Please note: As with all construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advance notice whenever possible.

We understand that construction can be disruptive and we thank you in advance for your patience during this time.
