temporary traffic signal installation on Yonge

September 20, 2016

Over the next few months, crews will be installing temporary traffic poles and signals between Sawmill Valley Drive and Davis Drive. Tomorrow, they will start at the intersections of Savage Road/Sawmill Valley and Mulock Drive.

work dates*: Starting Wednesday, September 21, until the end of November
work hours*: 7:00am–7:00pm

what you need to know:

  • Crews will begin at Savage/Sawmill and then move to the Mulock intersection. Work will proceed north towards Davis.
  • Each intersection will take approximately three weeks to complete.
  • During stage 1, there will be temporary curb lane closures around the work areas as crews install the temporary traffic poles.
  • During stage 2, there will be short duration left-turn lane closures while crews suspend and secure the temporary traffic signals.
  • Traffic control personnel and paid duty police officers will be on site as required.
  • Bus stops and sidewalks will remain open. If a bus stop or sidewalk is closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop or sidewalk.
  • At times, work at intersections may occur simultaneously.
  • There will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
  • At a later date, the traffic lights will be out of service for a short time as crews switch over to the temporary signals. Notice of this temporary outage will be provided in advance.

* Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due
to weather. We’ll provide advance notice whenever possible.

We understand that construction can be disruptive and we thank you for your patience. If you have questions about the Yonge Street rapidway project please contact:
