median removals continue on Yonge in Newmarket

September 14, 2016

Crews have made great progress removing medians along Yonge Street from Clearmeadow/William Roe Boulevard to just north of Eagle Street. Next, they will be starting median removals at Gladman and Millard Avenue and will then move south to Mulock Drive and Savage Road. This will take place over the next few months in order to complete all median removals along the corridor.

work date*: starting Thursday, September 15, for a few months
work hours*: 7am – 7pm

  • This work will require one northbound and one southbound lane closure closest to the median strip, during off-peak hours.
  • Left-turn lanes at the intersection will be maintained.
  • Crews will complete their work in three steps:
    • Removing median strips, one at a time.
    • Paving each area where median strips were removed.
    • Re-painting traffic lines.
  • Some weekend or night work may be required.
  • There will be noise and vibration from equipment and trucks.
  • Traffic control staff and paid duty police officers will be on site as required.

* Please note: As with all construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advance notice whenever possible.

We understand that construction can be disruptive and we thank you in advance for your patience during this time.
