street light and temporary utility pole installation on Yonge

June 15, 2016

As part of the Yonge Street rapidway project, crews will be moving street lights and installing temporary utility poles on both sides of Yonge from Sawmill Valley Drive / Savage Road to Brandy Lane Way. After temporary poles have been installed, street lights and existing wires will be transferred to the temporary poles.

Map of construction work areas

work dates*: Thursday, June 16 to Thursday, June 23
work hours: 7am–7pm

  • There will be rolling, short duration, curb lane closures around the work areas as crews deliver and install the temporary poles.
  • Crews will be required, at times, to move back and forth throughout the corridor to complete the work.
  • Wherever possible, sidewalks and bus stops will remain open. If a sidewalk is closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk.
  • There will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advance notice whenever possible.

We understand that construction can be disruptive and we thank you for your patience. If you have questions about the Yonge Street rapidway project please contact your Community Liaison team.
