Yonge telecommunications work continues north of Eagle

June 3, 2016

An important step in building the Yonge Street rapidway is relocating telecommunications. Next week, crews will be continuing telecommunications work on Yonge from Eagle Street to Davis Drive. Please see details below.

Map of construction work areas

work dates*: Monday, June 6 for approximately 3 months
work hours: 7am–7pm

  • The work will be done using trenching and directional drilling.
  • One crew will start on the southeast corner of Yonge and Davis and a second crew will start at the northwest corner of Yonge and Millard Avenue. Once work is complete in each area, crews will proceed south to Eagle.
  • Generally, work will move south, however, crews will be required, at times, to move back and forth throughout the corridor to complete the work.
  • There will be temporary north and southbound curb lane closures around the work area.
  • Wherever possible, sidewalks will remain open. If a sidewalk is closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to nearest open sidewalk.
  • Access will be maintained to properties in work areas; however, driveways may be reduced or temporarily disrupted. Advance notice will be provided wherever possible.
  • Traffic control staff and paid duty officers will be on site as required.
  • There will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
  • Some weekend work may be required.

*Please note: As with all construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advance notice whenever possible.
