telecommunications relocations on Yonge Street in Newmarket

January 25, 2016

An important step in building the vivaNext Yonge Street rapidway is relocating telecommunications. Crews will be moving underground telecommunications on the east side of Yonge from Savage Road to just north of Eagle Street. This work will progress in phases along the corridor. Please see details below.

Yonge Street work area

work dates*: Ongoing until March 31, 2016
work hours*: 7am-7pm

what you need to know:

  • There will be temporary northbound curb lane closures around the work area.
  • Wherever possible, sidewalks will remain open. If a sidewalk is closed, please watch for signs.
  • Access will be maintained to properties in work areas, however driveways may be reduced or temporarily disrupted. Advance notice will be provided wherever possible.
  • Transit will continue service on Yonge during this activity. Bus stops may be relocated or closed as work progresses. Look for signs and follow directions.
  • Traffic control staff and paid duty officers will be on site as required.
  • There will be construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.
  • Some weekend work may be required.

We understand that construction can be disruptive and we thank you in advance for your patience during this time.
