overnight fire hydrant installation on Yonge in Newmarket

In preparation for upcoming paving and boulevard work on the west side of Yonge Street, crews will be installing a new fire hydrant on the west side of Yonge just north of Millard Avenue.

work dates*: Monday, September 18 - Wednesday, September 20
work hours*: 7pm-7am, overnight

what you need to know:

  • On Monday, crews will tie in the hydrant to an existing water main on the east side of Yonge, and start trenching across Yonge.
  • On Tuesday, crews will continue trenching across Yonge and install a fire hydrant on the west side of Yonge, just north of the Millard intersection.
  • Yonge will be reduced to one southbound and one northbound lane for the duration of this work.
  • Where sidewalks are affected, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk.
  • Traffic control staff will be onsite to direct traffic for the duration of this work.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
