overnight traffic staging on Yonge between Highway 7 – Carrville/16th

February 27, 2018

The transformation is underway along Yonge Street in Richmond Hill. Crews have been busy relocating underground infrastructure, including hydro and telecommunications. In order to prepare for future road widening, crews will be staging traffic on Yonge between Highway 7 – Carrville Road/16th Avenue. Please see below for details on temporary lane reductions and traffic impacts.

work dates*: Tuesday, February 27 – Wednesday, February 28
work hours*: 7pm – 7am, overnight

what you need to know

  • To prepare for the traffic shift, crews will be working overnight to line paint the road, starting at Highway 7, heading north to Carrville/16th.
  • During the line painting work, north and southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
  • Once line painting is complete, traffic lanes will be shifted to the west side of Yonge and lanes will be narrowed. Two lanes will be maintained in both directions.
  • Traffic control staff and paid duty police officers will be on site as required.
  • Where bus stops and sidewalks are affected, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop or sidewalk.
  • Please remember to reduce your speed through construction zones and be mindful of traffic shifts and signs that will help guide you along your way. Always drive with care and give yourself extra time to get to your destination.

*Please note: As with all construction projects, some work may be re-scheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advance notice when possible. Watch twitter.com/vivanext for last-minute updates.
