utility installation on Yonge from Carrville to Baif

Starting tomorrow, crews will be installing a duct bank [a structure which gathers together and encases telecommunication cables] on the west side of Yonge Street from Carrville Road to Baif Boulevard.

work dates*: Tuesday, February 6 for approximately 4 months
work hours: 7am-7pm

what you need to know

  • Crews will install the duct bank by digging an open trench that will encase the telecommunications cables.
  • To accommodate this work, there will be temporary southbound curb lane closures around the work area.
  • Wherever possible, sidewalks and bus stops will remain open. If a sidewalk or bus stop is closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk or bus stop.
  • Access will be maintained to properties in work areas; however driveways may be reduced or temporarily disrupted. Advance notice will be provided wherever possible.
  • Traffic control staff and paid duty officers will be on site as required.
  • Some weekend work may be required.
  • Equipment used for this operation will be stored along the boulevards for the duration of this work.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
