With utility relocation underway in Richmond Hill, residents can expect to see a number of items underway this week along Yonge Street. See below for more information.

overnight utility removals at Yonge and Bantry

Crews will be removing an abandoned duct bank [a structure which gathers together and encases utility cables] on the southeast corner of Yonge Street and Bantry Avenue in Richmond Hill.

work dates*: Monday, November 27 – Thursday, November 30
work hours: 7pm – 7am, overnight

what you need to know

  • To accommodate this work, northbound Yonge will be reduced to one thru lane just south of the intersection.
  • The right turn lane onto Bantry, from Yonge, will be temporarily closed during work hours.
  • Bantry will be reduced to one eastbound lane thru the intersection during work hours.
  • The sidewalk around the work zone will be closed. Directional signage will be on site to guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.

paving on Gamble/19th at Yonge

Tomorrow, crews will be paving sections of Gamble Road/19th Avenue, at Yonge.

work dates*: Tuesday, November 28
work hours: 7am-7pm

what you need to know

  • Crews will be paving portions of eastbound and westbound Gamble/19th, at Yonge.
  • At times, eastbound and westbound Gamble/19th will be reduced to one lane during off-peak hours [9am-3:30pm].
  • Paid duty police officers will be onsite for the duration of this work.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
