With utility relocation underway in Richmond Hill, residents can expect to see a number of items underway along Yonge Street. See below for more information.

Trayborn road closure at Yonge

As crews relocate and install underground utilities, Trayborn Drive at Yonge Street, will be temporarily closed for approximately three weeks. As crews trench across Trayborn at the Yonge intersection, there will no thru traffic.

work dates*: Monday, November 20, for approximately three weeks
work hours: 7am-7pm, road closure will stay in place 24/7

what you need to know

  • Access will be maintained to businesses and properties near the work area.
  • Access to 10594 Yonge will be maintained from both Yonge and Trayborn.
  • Access to Richmond Heights Plaza [10520 Yonge] will be maintained from Yonge, Levendale Road and Trayborn [west of Yonge].
  • Detour signs will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians around the closure.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times there will be noise and dust from equipment.
  • Some weekend and overnight work may be required.

bus stops, sidewalks and lane impacts:

  • Sidewalks and crosswalks around the work area will be temporarily closed for the duration of this work. Directional signage will be onsite to guide pedestrians around the work zone.

water main installation on Yonge from Yonge Connector to High Tech

Starting Monday, crews will be installing a water main on the east side of Yonge Street between the Yonge Connector Road and High Tech Road.

work dates*: Monday, November 20 – Friday, December 15
work hours: 7am-7pm

what you need to know

  • Crews will be trenching along the east side of Yonge, starting at High Tech, heading south.
  • Crews will, at times, be required to move back and forth through the work zone to complete different tasks.
  • To accommodate this work, northbound Yonge will be reduced to two lanes during work hours.
  • Traffic control staff and paid duty police officers will be onsite as required.
  • Sidewalks around the work area could be temporarily closed. Directional signage will be onsite to guide pedestrians around the work zone.
  • Some bus stop relocations may be required for this work. Where bus stops are affected, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop.
  • Access to businesses and properties near work areas will be maintained.
  • Overnight and/or weekend work will be required.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.

paving between Harding and Major Mackenzie

Starting Monday, crews will be paving portions of Yonge where water mains were installed, between Harding Boulevard and Major Mackenzie Drive.

work dates*: Monday, November 20 – Friday, November 24
work hours: 7am-7pm

what you need to know

  • Crews will be paving portions of northbound and southbound lanes on Yonge from Harding to Major Mackenzie.
  • At times, northbound or southbound Yonge will be reduced to one lane.
  • Access to properties in the work area will be maintained; however driveways may be reduced or temporarily disrupted. Advance notice will be provided wherever possible.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
