retaining wall construction at Yonge and 19th

February 7, 2017

As part of the transformation of Yonge Street in Richmond Hill, we will be building another retaining wall along Yonge. Starting tomorrow, crews will begin building a retaining wall and grading on the east side of Yonge between 19th Avenue and Devonsleigh Boulevard. Retaining walls are built to provide stability between two areas of land at different heights, with the wall supporting the higher level of ground.

Retaining wall activities on the west side of Yonge, south of Gamble are ongoing. At times Yonge will be reduced to one lane north and southbound from Gamble/19th to Nottingham/Devonsleigh during off-peak hours.

work dates*: Wednesday, Feb. 8–Friday, March 31
work hours*: 7am-7pm
