hydro wire installation across Yonge from Carrville to 407

On Sunday, crews will be installing overhead hydro service wires on Yonge, between Carrville Road/16th Avenue to the Highway 407 overpass. To accommodate this work, north and southbound traffic along Yonge will be intermittently stopped throughout work hours as crews hoist wires up to the poles.

Crews will first transfer power cables at the intersection of Westwood Lane and the Highway 407 westbound off-ramp which will result in a short disruption to the traffic signals.
Crews will then begin installing overhead hydro service wires on Yonge, between Carrville/16th to the Highway 407 overpass.
Traffic on Yonge will be stopped intermittently for short periods in both directions as each span of wire is hoisted up the hydro poles.
Traffic control staff and paid duty police officers will be on site to direct traffic. The southbound curb lane on Yonge will be closed around work zones.
In addition, one northbound curb lane closure will be required in work zones as crews work on the east side of Yonge.
Crews will begin working at Carrville/16th and will move south towards Highway 407.
Access to businesses and properties near work areas will be maintained; however, driveways may be reduced or temporarily disrupted. Advance notice will be provided when possible.
Sidewalks will be closed around work areas. Directional signs will help guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk.
Please expect delays and give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
There will be construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.
