hydro pole installation on Yonge from Naughton to Nottingham Drive

October 17, 2016

To prepare for the widening of Yonge Street, hydro crews will install new hydro poles set further back from the road on the west side of Yonge from Naughton Drive to Nottingham Drive. After the poles have been installed, existing power lines will be transferred to the new poles.

work dates*: Starting Monday, October 17, for approximately 4 months
work hours*: 7:00am–7:00pm

what you need to know:

  • Crews will excavate pits and install new wooden poles.
  • Hydro service will be transferred from the old poles to the new poles.
  • Existing poles will be removed and holes backfilled.
  • Crews will dig trenches in select areas to connect underground service lines.
  • Temporary southbound curb lane closures will be required around work areas.
  • PowerStream will advise clients of any planned disruption in advance.
  • Wherever possible, bus stops and sidewalks will remain open. If a bus stop or sidewalk is closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop or sidewalk.
  • There will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
  • Weekend work will be required.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We’ll provide advance notice whenever possible.
