temporary hydro pole installation on Yonge in Richmond Hill

April 19, 2016

As part of the Yonge Street rapidway project, crews will be installing temporary hydro poles on both sides of Yonge from just north of 19th Avenue / Gamble Road to Nottingham Drive / Devonsleigh Boulevard. After temporary poles have been installed, existing power lines will be transferred to the temporary poles.

work dates*: Wednesday, April 20 for about 6 weeks
work hours*: 7am – 7pm

  • Periodic north and southbound curb lane closures will be required around the work area as crews deliver and install the new poles.
  • PowerStream will advise clients of any planned disruption in advance.
  • Wherever possible, sidewalks and bus stops will remain open. If a sidewalk is closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk.
  • Bus stops may be temporarily relocated as the hydro work moves down the corridor. Where bus stops are affected, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop.
  • There will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.

* Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advance notice whenever possible.

We understand that construction can be disruptive and we thank you for your patience. If you have questions about the Yonge Street rapidway project please contact:
