Utility investigations from Savage Road to just south of Davis Drive [Apr 7-24]

April 02, 2015

Crews will continue underground utility investigations along Yonge Street in Newmarket next week in preparation for Yonge Street rapidway construction that begins this year. Please see details below.

Dates of work*: Tuesday, April 7, to Friday, April 24, 2015
Hours of work*: 7am-7pm
Work locations: Various locations and intersections along Yonge Street from Savage Road/Sawmill Valley Drive to just south of Davis Drive.

What you need to know:

  • Crews will be locating [potholing] utilities using a hydrovac truck [truck-mounted vacuum]. Each hole will be filled before crews move to the next location.
  • Short duration north and southbound lane closures will be required on Yonge Street from Sawmill Valley Drive to just south of Davis Drive as crews move along the corridor.
  • Due to the hydrovac truck’s vacuum, there will be noise associated with this work.
  • At times, sidewalks may be closed to ensure pedestrian safety. Signs will be in place to direct pedestrians to cross safely at signalized intersections.
  • Bus stops may also be temporarily affected. If required, bus stops will be relocated to an alternate location. Signs will be in place to guide passengers.
