temporary traffic pole installation at Yonge and Major Mackenzie

October 11, 2017

As work for the Yonge Street rapidway project continues, residents will start to see changes to how intersection traffic signals and vehicle movements work. Before we complete the intersection design, we must first install temporary traffic poles and signals. Crews will be installing these temporary traffic poles and signals at the Yonge Street and Major Mackenzie Drive intersection.

work dates*: Thursday, October 12, for approximately 4 weeks
work hours: 7am – 7pm

what you need to know:

  • Crews will install temporary traffic poles and attach traffic and pedestrian signals at each corner of this intersection.
  • There will be short-term lane closures around the work areas as crews install the temporary traffic poles and string temporary traffic signals.
  • After the temporary poles and signals have been installed, traffic signals will be activated. Details and dates will be provided at a later time.
  • Wherever possible, bus stops and sidewalks will remain open. If a sidewalk or bus stop is closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk.
  • Paid duty police officers will be onsite, as required.
  • Due to the nature of this work, there will be, at times, construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
  • Please expect delays and give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

*Please note: As with all construction projects, some work may be re-scheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advanced notice when possible. Watch twitter.com/vivanext for last-minute updates.

We understand that construction can be disruptive and we thank you for your patience. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
