work continues at Yonge and Elgin Mills

In order to prepare for road widening work, residents can expect to see a number of construction activities underway along Yonge Street in Richmond Hill, including excavation work and utility installation at the Yonge and Elgin Mills Road intersection.

Starting tomorrow, crews will be excavating on the southwest corner of Elgin Mills and Yonge.

work dates*: Wednesday, July 19 for approximately 3 weeks
work hours: 7am-7pm

To accommodate this work, eastbound traffic on Elgin Mills, starting west of Creekview Avenue, will be reduced to one dedicated thru lane, and one shared thru and the right turn lane onto Yonge. The left turn lane onto Yonge will remain open.
Sidewalks around the work area will be temporarily closed or impacted. Directional signs will be onsite to guide pedestrians around the work zone.
Bus stop #4429, located on Elgin Mills at the southwest corner of Yonge, will be relocated further west for this work. Directional signs will guide pedestrians to the open bus stops.
Traffic control staff will be onsite, as required.
Some weekend and overnight work may be required. Advance notice will be provided when possible.
Due to the nature of this work, there will be construction-related noise from a generator and construction vehicles.

Starting tomorrow, crews will be installing utilities on the east side of Yonge at Elgin Mills.

work dates*: Wednesday, July 19 - Friday, July 21
work hours: 7am-7pm

The westbound right turn lane from Elgin Mills to Yonge will be temporarily closed from 9am-3pm.
Wherever possible, sidewalks will remain open. If a sidewalk is closed, directional signage will be onsite to guide pedestrians.
Some bus stop relocations may be required for this work. Where bus stops are affected, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the open bus stop.
