overnight hydro work at Yonge and Carrville

Starting overnight on Tuesday, crews will begin trenching across Carrville Road at Yonge Street, to install a duct bank [a structure which gathers together and encases hydro cables] and connect the underground service lines.

work dates*: Tuesday, June 13, for approximately 3-4 nights
work hours: 7pm to 7am

what you need to know:

night 1

  • Crews will trench south to north across Carrville, on the west side of Yonge.
  • As crews trench across Carrville, eastbound lanes will be reduced to one thru lane and a left turn lane.

night 2

  • Eastbound Carrville will be reduced to one shared thru lane and left turn lane.
  • The right turn lane onto Yonge will be maintained.

night 3

  • Westbound traffic on Carrville will be shifted south at the Yonge intersection.
  • The eastbound left turn lane will be shared with the thru lane.

other details:

  • Traffic control staff and paid duty police officers will be onsite for the duration of this work.
  • There will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
  • Access will be maintained to properties in work areas; however driveways may be reduced or temporarily disrupted. Advance notice will be provided wherever possible.
  • Some bus stop relocations may be required for this work. Where bus stops are affected, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop.
  • The sidewalk and crosswalk on the west side of Yonge near the work area will be closed overnight for the duration of the work. Directional signage will be onsite to guide pedestrians around the work zone.

Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to watch for traffic shifts and signs that will guide you along your way. Drive with care through construction zones and give yourself enough time to safely arrive at your destination.
