temporary traffic pole installation along Yonge Street in Richmond Hill

May 18, 2017

Hello,

Starting tomorrow, crews will install temporary traffic poles and attach traffic and pedestrian signals at each corner of the following intersections:

  • Oxford Street/Industrial Road
  • Elgin Mills Road
  • Canyon Hill Avenue/Bernard Avenue
  • Brookside Road/Silverwood Avenue
  • Nottingham Drive/Devonsleigh Boulevard

work dates*: Friday, May 19, for approximately six weeks
work hours: 7am–7pm

  • During off-peak hours [9:30am–3:30pm], there will be short-term lane closures around each of the intersections as crews install the temporary traffic poles, and attach traffic and pedestrian signals in the centre median and at each corner.
  • After the temporary poles and signals have been installed, traffic signals will be activated. Details and dates will be provided for each intersection at a later time.
  • Crews will move back and forth between intersections to complete their work.
  • Paid duty police officers will be on site, as required.
  • Bus stops and sidewalks will remain open. If a bus stop or sidewalk is closed, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop or sidewalk.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times, there will be construction-related noise, dust and vibration from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

*Please Note: As with all construction projects, some work may be re-scheduled due to weather. We'll provide advanced notice when possible.

Rapidway construction is progressing on Yonge Street, and we thank you for continuing to support our local shops and businesses. This long weekend, be sure to stop, shop and dine on Yonge! If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.
