lane closures this weekend on Major Mackenzie at Yonge

As part of the gas main installation on Yonge Street, crews will be working on Major Mackenzie Drive West beginning on Friday, May 12.

work dates*: Friday, May 12–Monday, May 15, for 24 hours
work hours: Friday, May 12 starting at 6pm–Monday, May 15 at 6am, for 24 hours

what you need to know:

  • To accommodate this work, Major Mackenzie will be reduced to one eastbound through lane at the Yonge intersection.
  • Paid duty police officers will be onsite to direct traffic for the duration of this work.
  • Bus stop #2964 will be temporarily relocated. Directional signs will be onsite to guide pedestrians to the relocated bus stop west of the Yonge and Major Mackenzie intersection.
  • Sidewalks will remain open on the north side of Major Mackenzie. If a sidewalk is closed, however, directional signs will be onsite to guide pedestrians.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
  • Please expect significant delays and allow yourself enough time to get to your destination.

*Please note: As with all construction projects, some work may be re-scheduled due to weather. We’ll provide advanced notice when possible.
