July 12, 2017

Over the past few weeks, crews have been installing temporary traffic poles and signals at the intersections along Highway 7 West between Bruce Street and Commerce Street. Tomorrow, crews will be activating the traffic signals at the intersection of Highway 7 West and Wigwoss Drive/Helen Street. Please see below for further details:

work dates*: Thursday, July 13
work hours*: 12pm–5pm

what you need to know:

  • Tomorrow, at the Wigwoss/Helen intersection, the temporary traffic signals that will be in place throughout construction are scheduled to be activated in the early afternoon.
  • The traffic lights will be out of service in all directions. Expect to see the lights out or flashing.
  • For the remainder of the day, crews will remove the old signal poles and equipment.
  • This work may require short-term lane closures around each work area as crews make their way around the intersection.
  • Paid duty police officers will be onsite for the duration of the work to control traffic.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
  • Once the remaining traffic signals along Hwy 7 West are scheduled we will communicate this information.
  • While there will be no changes to the intersection movements and operations at this time, there will be changes coming in the future. Read more and watch a video about what to expect when the rapidway is complete here: Navigating the rapidways.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We are committed to providing advance notice whenever possible. Check twitter.com/vivanext for last-minute updates.
