The transformation of Highway 7 continues as crews grind the existing asphalt on Highway 7, between Commerce Street and Jane Street, in preparation for final paving. Due to inclement weather last night, top layer paving of the eastbound traffic lanes on Highway 7, between the CN bridge and the GO Barrie bridge has been rescheduled for tonight. work dates*: Thursday, August 18 to Friday, August 19
work hours*: 7pm–6am, overnight

  • Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction from just west of Commerce to just west of Jane.
  • Crews will grind the old asphalt tonight to prepare for paving the following night.
  • Once grinding is complete, lanes will re-open.
  • There will be construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

  • Eastbound Highway 7 will be reduced to one lane and shifted to the rapidway between the CN bridge and the GO Barrie bridge.
  • Westbound Highway 7 will be reduced to one lane between the GO Barrie bridge to Bowes Road / Baldwin Avenue and then open up to two lanes.
  • Paid duty police officers will be on site to help direct traffic.
  • Final line painting will occur before Highway 7 is reopened.
  • Bus stops and sidewalk access may be shifted during this operation. Signs will be placed onsite to guide pedestrians.
  • There will be construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

first steel supports for VMC – Spadina Subway Station arrive today

The station canopy over the BRT station, located along Highway 7 West between Jane Street and Millway Avenue in the City of Vaughan, will be 9.1-metres high and 50-metres long. For details, see the media release issued earlier today.
