paving at Highway 7 and Jane is this weekend

A large segment of paving is planned for this weekend, weather permitting: the south side of the Jane Street and Highway 7 intersection. Please see below for details on temporary lane closures and traffic impacts:

what you need to know:

work dates*: Saturday, July 23 to Monday, July 25
work hours*: 6am Saturday to 6am Monday, 24 hours a day

stage 1

  • Eastbound traffic on Hwy. 7 will be shifted to the north as the southern portion of the intersection is paved.
  • Eastbound traffic will not be able to turn right onto Jane.
  • YRT route 20 will be detoured around the Jane closure. The north and southbound bus stop at the intersection of Hwy. 7 and Jane will be temporarily closed.
  • Access to 7685-7695 Jane Street will be maintained during this work. Motorists wishing to access this plaza may drive past the closure at Doughton Rd.
  • Jane will be closed between Hwy. 7 and Doughton Rd. Detours will be posted to guide you around the closure.

stage 2

  • 6am Sunday to 6am Monday, eastbound Hwy. 7 traffic will be reduced to one lane, from east of Edgeley Blvd./Interchange Way to west of Maplecrete Rd. The eastbound left turn lane at Jane will be closed; however, U-turns are available at Creditstone. Eastbound right turns to Jane will be open.
  • Westbound Hwy. 7 traffic will have two open lanes. The westbound left turn lane at Jane will be closed; however, U-turns are available at Edgeley/Interchange.
  • Northbound traffic on Jane will be reduced to one lane from north of Interchange Way/Peelar Rd. to the intersection closure.
  • Southbound traffic on Jane will be reduced to one lane from south of Portage Pkwy to Hwy. 7, and left turn lanes on Jane will be closed.
  • Paid duty police officers will be on site to assist traffic flow.
  • There will be construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We are committed to providing advance notice whenever possible.
