weekend paving on Highway 7 at Jane St. and at Hillside Ave.

It’s an exciting time as the transformation of Highway 7 progresses! As crews continue work on sidewalks and vivastations, the next segments of paving are ongoing at various locations between Edgeley Blvd./Interchange Way to east of Bowes Rd./Baldwin Ave. Two segments of paving are planned for this weekend: the south side of the Jane Street and Highway 7 intersection, and on Highway 7 at Hillside Ave. Please see below for details for temporary lane reductions, closures and traffic impacts:

work location #1: paving at Jane St. and Highway 7

work dates*: Saturday, May 14 to Monday, May 16
work hours: 7am Saturday to 6am Monday, 24 hours a day

  • Eastbound Hwy. 7 traffic will be reduced to one lane, from east of Edgeley Blvd./Interchange Way to Creditstone Rd. The eastbound left-turn at Jane will be closed; however, U-turns are available at Creditstone. The eastbound right-turn to Jane will be open.
  • Westbound Hwy. 7 traffic will have two open lanes. The westbound left-turn at Jane will be closed; however, U-turns are available at Edgeley/Interchange.
  • Northbound traffic on Jane St. will be reduced to one lane from north of Interchange Way/Peelar Rd. to the intersection closure, and the left-turn lane will be closed; however U-turns are available at Creditstone.
  • Southbound traffic on Jane St. will be reduced to one lane from south of Portage Pkwy to the intersection, and the left-turn lane on Jane will be closed; however U-turns are available at Edgeley/Interchange.In addition, eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane at various locations intermittently between Jane to Bowes for median work.

work location #2: paving at Hillside Ave. and Highway 7

work dates*: Saturday, May 14 to Sunday, May 15
work hours: 7am Saturday to 7pm Sunday, 24 hours a day

  • The intersection of Hillside Ave. and Highway 7 will be closed on Saturday until the afternoon, along with a short distance on the west and east side of the intersection, as crews work around the clock to complete grinding and paving activities.
  • Eastbound Highway 7 traffic will be reduced to one lane from just west of Keele St. to just east of Hillside Ave. Note that the Baldwin-Highway 7 intersection is open.
  • Starting on Saturday evening, Hillside Ave. access will open up and eastbound Highway 7 traffic will shift to the south side, with one lane open from just west of Keele St. to just east of Hillside Ave.
  • Left turning movements and U-turns will be available at Keele St., Creditstone Rd. and Baldwin/Bowes.
  • In addition, eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane at various locations intermittently between Jane to Bowes for median work.

*Regarding the work activities above, please be advised:

  • Detour signs will be posted and paid duty police officers will be on site to help guide pedestrians and drivers.
  • There will be construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
