nightly Highway 7 West lane reductions for planting

May 9, 2016

Spring planting along Highway 7 West is well underway! And starting tonight, crews are continuing tree planting, along with other greenery, in areas that are difficult to work on during peak travel times. Please see below for further details on nightly lane reductions:

work dates*: Monday, May 9 to Wednesday, May 25
work hours: 12am–7am, nightly

  • Over the next few weeks, crews will be working overnight planting trees and greenery in various areas along Highway 7, beginning on the north side.
  • Westbound traffic on Highway 7 will be reduced to one lane in each work area, requiring rolling closures. Lanes will be reopened as soon as work is completed.
  • Tonight’s work will begin along the north side of Highway 7 between the CN MacMillan Bridge and Maplecrete Rd..
  • Crews will then move west towards Edgeley/Interchange.
  • Once that area is complete, crews will be planting between Bowes and Keele St.
  • Once planting on the north side of Highway 7 is complete, planting crews will move to the south side, similarly affecting eastbound lanes.
  • A slow-moving water truck in the curb-side lane will water the newly planted areas daily.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

*Please note: As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other variables. We are committed to providing advance notice whenever possible.

Thank you for your patience as we transform Highway 7. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your Community Liaisons.
