Beginning this evening, median work will be taking place on Highway 7 in the VMC area. Crews will also be working to activate the new traffic signals at the Keele intersection tomorrow morning. Please see below for further details on this work and temporary lane reductions:

work dates*: Monday, May 2 to Tuesday, May 3
work hours: 7pm–6am

  • In preparation for further median work in the VMC area, crews will be removing temporary construction barriers in the median of Highway 7 between Jane Street and Edgeley Boulevard/Interchange Way.
  • Westbound Highway 7 will be reduced to one lane between Jane and Edgeley/Interchange during this work and lanes will be reopened as soon as the work has been completed.
  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.

work hours: 4am–6pm

  • Beginning at 4am Tuesday morning, crews will be preparing the new permanent traffic signals for activation.
  • The new signals are scheduled to be activated by mid-day on Tuesday, after which time crews will be removing the temporary signal equipment for the remainder of the afternoon.
  • Paid duty police officers will be onsite for the duration of the work to control traffic.

  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones
  • As a reminder, crews will be painting the intersection of Highway 7 and Keele this evening beginning at 7pm until Tuesday morning to prepare for this signal activation. To allow for this work, eastbound and westbound traffic on Highway 7 will be reduced to one lane at a time, and then northbound and southbound traffic on Keele will be reduced to one lane at a time.
