line painting and lane shifts on Highway 7 W this weekend

While the scheduled paving at Highway 7 & Baldwin is postponed until next weekend [due to the rainy weather forecast], crews will be line painting on Highway 7 West between Keele and Bowes, at Creditstone and in the VMC area between Jane and Edgeley/Interchange, as well as grading near the vivastation at Keele. Please see below for details on this work, traffic shifts and temporary lane reductions:

work location #1: Highway 7 between Keele and Bowes

work dates*: Saturday, April 30 to end of August
work hours: Beginning 8am on Saturday and then 24 hours/day

  • Beginning on Saturday morning, crews will be line painting from the east side of Keele to the west side of Bowes on Highway 7 to allow for boulevard/sidewalk work that will begin Monday morning.
  • Eastbound Highway 7 will be reduced to one lane between Keele and Bowes during this work.
  • Once painting has been completed, eastbound traffic will re-open to two lanes, shifted away from the curb lane, closer to the median.
  • Work on the boulevard/sidewalk on the south side of Highway 7 will be ongoing until the end of August.

work location 2: Highway 7 between Keele and Creditstone

work dates*: Saturday, April 30 to Tuesday, May 3
work hours: Beginning 8am on Saturday to 6pm on Tuesday evening

  • On Saturday, crews will be line painting on Highway 7 between Keele and Creditstone in preparation for a lane shift to accommodate median work.
  • Westbound Highway 7 will be reduced to one lane for this work.
  • On Monday evening beginning at approximately 7pm until Monday morning, crews will be line painting at the Keele and Highway 7 intersection.
  • To allow for this work, eastbound and westbound Highway 7 will be reduced to one lane, and then northbound and southbound on Keele will be reduced to one lane.
  • Once painting is complete, westbound traffic on Highway 7 will be shifted closer to the curb (away from the median) from Keele to the west side of the CN Bridge.

work location 3: Highway 7 & Creditstone

work dates*: Saturday, April 30
work hours: Between 8am to 6pm

  • On Saturday, crews will be line painting to allow for better traffic flow.
  • Eastbound and westbound traffic on Highway 7 at Creditstone will be reduced to 1 lane in each direction during this work.

work location 4: Highway 7 between Edgeley & Jane

work dates*: Saturday, April 30 to June 6
work hours: Between 8am to 6pm – then 24 hours a day

  • On Saturday, crews will be repainting westbound Highway 7 lanes between Jane and Edgeley so traffic can shift to two lanes near the curb with a working lane in the median.
  • Westbound Highway 7 will be reduced to one lane during line painting.

Regarding the work activities above, please be advised:

  • Please give yourself enough time to get to your destination, and remember to reduce your speed through construction zones.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times there will be noise and vibration around the work area.
